It is one of the highlights of any safari to see baby animals. They are attractive, active and sometimes even naughty. And as much as everyone loves the little Elephants, the young Lions and the newly-born antelopes it is rarer to encounter the really young ones of smaller mammals and birds.
Just this week we had two such encounters.
First we saw very young Baby Scrub Hares in the middle of a road …
… and then a ‘just born’ Crowned Lapwing with its parents.
Both sightings happened after sunset. Both pictures were taken using the light from a spotlight.
And just in case you prefer the larger small ones – here is a shot of one of Thanda’s youngest Elephants enjoying a drink on a hot day.
